Everything was going fine until COVID-19 rushed in and put a pause to all the travel activities and booming the growing flight routes and economies, which led to questioning ourselves, “Will we ever get to travel again?” Well, the answer is YES. We will definitely get to travel in the near future (I might say, very soon) BUT it will never be the same! It’s hard to hear, but after such a deadly pandemic, the perspective of the tourism industry and the travellers’ community will completely change travel adaptations, not only in India but globally. Here is what we will see:
Hotels with New Standards
By new standards, I mean better safety and hygienic precautions. Every individual who is travelling will look for the utmost hygienic accommodation to put up, which would be in terms of sanitisation and cleanliness. On the other hand, the hotels will also upscale sustainability and exclusivity to respect society’s sensitivity. Travelers will start to prefer Airbnb’s and private homes which are isolated, over luxury hotels in the cities. All hotels will make sure that their reviews and ratings speak high about hygiene – need of the hour.

Regions that are lesser affected will thrive
International travel may take a longer time to respond than expected. However, local or internal travel may commence in a few months, especially in countries like India and this would be the best opportunity to discover the places within your country that you thought might be left out from your list. People will start exploring and travelling to places which are least affected, for example, Sri Lanka or Bhutan (as of now). Before all this falls into place, travellers will plunge into stay-cations, road trips, and local treks to fulfil their wanderlust.
Airfare Might Rise
Additional effort or requirement for sanitisation and other hygiene measures, which would include the accommodation of only one-third of the normal passenger capacity would boost-up the airfare. Additionally, flights will mandatorily need to stick to new cleaning standards and incorporate extra safety gears like gloves, mask and sanitisers, which would be another reason for the rise in airfare.
A Better Place for Nature
Humans have stayed indoors for quite some time, which has somehow been advantageous for nature and wildlife – and this is a good thing! The world (nature) was dying due to reckless human activities which have now halted, allowing flora and fauna to nurture, rejuvenate and replenish. We see that many states of India and many countries have reported a much lesser level of air pollution and animals are seen to come out of their homes and move freely while we stay trapped. This fact will somehow transform the travel industry to be more thoughtful and care for the future of our planet.
