Agatti Island is a 7.6 km long island located in the Union Territory of Lakshadweep in India. The island is known as Agatti as it is set on a coral atoll called Agatti. It is located 459 km off Kochi in the mainland India. The island has a small population, most of whom speak Malayalam and English.

Golden Jubilee Museum is one of the leading attractions of Agatti. The museum shows sculptures of traditional Minicoy Sailboats called as ‘jag dhoni’. The diverse range of collection at the museum reflects the rich history of the island. Two busts of Lord Buddha are located on the ground floor of the two-story building. The statues are considered to have originated in the 9th and 12th century. These beautiful artifacts show the history of the place before the period of Islam. Also, antique jars, pots, wooden chests and beautiful designer collection of gold coins are some of the other artefacts displayed at the museum.
