How to Maintain Your Health during Travelling

Travelling does a lot to our bodies. It alters our schedule of eating and sleeping. Most of you would agree with me on this; street food is love. The taste, the tangy flavors and the amazing aroma is hard to resist. Change in weather, change in climate, change in time zone, change in surroundings. Damn! that’s a whole lot of change. Sunburned noses, jet lag, cramped legs, and headaches become our travel mates.

But seriously how can one avoid the luscious pastry, desserts, and cocktails. The midnight booze that lands us with a messy hangover has a different vibe to it. Thank God, there are some simple things that we all can do to keep our wellness in line.

Water is the key

Water is the elixir that we all need. When not provided the proper amount of water, the body reacts in a pretty sulking way. Like you might get a cranky headache, short temper, making you a shoddy travel buddy.

To avoid such a condition, you must drink two liters of water every day. Many people don’t realize that when we’re traveling in hot countries, the hydration level of the body depletes swiftly. This increases the chances of dehydration. To avoid writing dehydration stories in your travel journal app, drink plenty of water. Dehydration has a number of negative psychological and neurological effects. That’s why it is so important to drink water constantly and the water should be sanitized. Especially in countries where tap water is contaminated.

It’s the time for fruits and veggies

You must be aware of the 5-a-day rule. Those who don’t know about it, I’m here for you guys. According to the 5-a-day rule, everyone should eat at least five portions of fruits and veggies daily. For all of you who love eating in restaurants, once in a while ditch burgers and pizza. Opt for a healthier dose of fruits and veggies. And moreover, fresh salad when put next to cheeseburger shines more anyway. Try to prepare something more healthy and nourishing. Trust me it won’t be that hard.

Beat the sun with SPF

Traveling in summer often gives us those sun-kissed tan lines. SPF is a measure of sunscreen protection against UVB rays. These harmful rays cause sunburn and even contribute to skin cancer. Higher the SPF(Sun Protection Factor), the higher the level of protection it provides. SPF comes to our rescue. All we need to do is apply a good amount of it. Sun! We are ready.

Supplements are essential

During traveling, the thrill often makes us skip meals. The way too-delicious junk food doesn’t fulfill our daily requirement of vitamins. We hardly consume entire vegetables while traveling that’s why supplements are important. Multivitamins are easy to carry and can definitely find a spot in your medical kit. After all, the adrenaline rush, late-night parties, super spicy street food shouldn’t be allowed to ruin your health.

Natural sleeping pattern
We all know, sleeping is very important for the body. Whenever you feel you need your caffeine dosage, replace it with a glass of water. Set your watch according to the new time zone if your trip involves a change in the time zone. Evaluate the time, if you sleep normally at this time then try to sleep. If you arrive at your destination at midday, stay away from the bed. Go wander around the street or visit some popular locations. Click dope pics for your travel social media app. If you arrive in the night, hit the bed. Simple! Isn’t it? That’s all you need to do and you will happily adjust to your time zone.

Just keep moving
Some trips are meant to be filled with calorie-busting affairs. These affairs often gift us with worked-up muscles. Bouncing around an apple orchard, moving around the street in search of a Chinese restaurant, dancing in pubs keeps all of us moving. You can start a band exercise in your hotel room itself. All it will take is 5-10 minutes. Lateral walks and plank jacks are my favorites. Try them out.
