I have always harbored a passion to travel, see the world, meet people, live and work in communities that are like-minded and are ahead of their times. It all started with a childhood dream. My journey began when I got the “golden call” from Emirates Airline to be a part of their global flying team. It exposed me to a confluence of people, cultures and behaviors from all corners of the globe. It gave me a chance to follow my aspirations and also trained me well to deliver high standards of service with a smile on my face. I jumped at the opportunity of living in Dubai, all expenses paid for and earning a tax free salary. Who wouldn’t want a dream package like this? I had the opportunity to visit 6 continents, 60 countries the three years that I was there. It was the perfect job that payed you to travel worldwide, provided hotel stay and sometimes long layovers, at face value, seemed like a highly exciting prospect indeed.

The more a person travels, the more he/she yearns to discover unique, remote, deserted and mysterious destinations. One such was the ship’s cemetery in Luanda where ships were abandoned and left to decay and disintegrate, castles in Loch Lomond a popular leisure destination in Scotland, yellow fashioned tram unique and symbolic part of Lisbon still an extremely popular city transport along with hogging on ‘Pastel de Nata’ and sipping on some amazing “green wine” and “port wine” living the tourist life. Moscow had me visiting the “Red Square” and “St. Basil’s Cathedral” along with nibling on Russian dumplings and steaming hot beetroot soup in the cold. Seattle popularly known as the home of “Starbucks” had me taken with the farmers market and “chewing gum” walls in small alleys. I also visited the Space Needle, Pike Palace Market and the Museum of Pop Culture.

Milan was a dream come true with the “Duomo di Milano church”, visiting “lake Como” and enjoying some freshly made wood fired pizzas and Gelatos for dessert. New York had “Time Square”, “Statue of Liberty”, “Empire State Building”, “Broadway”, “Rockefeller Centre”, “Central Park” and Mac and Cheese to look forward to. Casablanca welcomed me with traditional Moroccan food, “mud baths” and the “Hassan Mosque.”
Athens was beautiful in its own way, with the “Acropolis”. Hanoi had the “Ha long Bay” which is the most popular tourist spot known for its sparkling emerald waters. Amsterdam was such a sight with visiting the “red-light” district and the most beautiful tulip garden. Durban was where my adventurous side came out. Had a blast doing the under-water shark cage diving, one of the most famous tourist attractions. Had a relaxing and peaceful time on the islands of Maldives, Mauritius and Seychelles. Perfect place to enjoy the sound of the waves and the sun’s warmth.
Enjoyed the “Oktober fest” in Germany, spending time with penguins on the beach in Capetown while having their own South African wine. Kenya gave me a chance to adopt an orphan baby elephant and provide for its shelter and wellbeing. The free movement of wildlife took my breath away. Switzerland took my breath away with its natural beauty of the majestic Alps, lakes and towering castles. It also had the best swiss cheese fondue to offer. Taiwan had amazing “Hello Kitty” and “toilet themed restaurants” to visit along with the most popular tourist attraction “Taipei 101”. Cherry blossoms in Japan, white whale diving in the Philippines and getting pampered by body massages in Thailand could only ever be anybody’s dream.
Ireland had jaw dropping natural landscapes, green rolling hills, music and festivals which was enjoyed with a pint of “Guiness”. Wearing ethnic attires and walking down the streets of Korea was fun as well. Visiting the “Great wall of China” while having Chinese Herbal hot tea and dumplings made my day. Rome had the “Colosseum” which is the largest amphitheater ever built in the Roman Empire. Paris, the city of love had the majestic Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, Notre Dame and amazing fashion to fall for. Fun seeing the “Petronas Towers” in Malaysia, Buddha Temple in Hong Kong and the “London Bridge” and “London Eye” in London.
I achieved a lot out of it personally and professionally. It is extremely difficult for women to achieve success on their own. We often have to compromise on a lot of things in life to get where we dream to be. Being an Indian, I was proud of my accomplishments. I was able to buy a house outright at the age of 25, fund my entire Masters degree abroad right after, and have an all-round personal development. It helped consider my aims in life, assess my skills and qualities, and set goals in order to maximize my potential.
