Brahmatal Trek is basically present in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. Although Brahmatal is a new trek to be discovered later than some of the other treks present in Uttarakhand, it has the tremendous power to attract tourists, trekkers, all over the world. Brahmatal trek has been named after the Brahmatal Lake which has its mythological beliefs. Brahmatal Lake basically a medium sized lake which is present at an altitude of 3240m above the mean sea level. Brahmatal has its relation with the Indian Mythology, which says that Lord Brahma who is the creator of Earth performed his penance here at this place. And accordingly, this place got its name Brahmatal (meaning the place where Brahma stayed).

Description of the Brahmatal trek in Details:

Day 1 : Reach to Kathogodam and then to Lohajung

The trekkers from different regions will be heading towards Kothagodam by Train, Air or by Bus. It is important to assemble the whole team at a place. Now, from Kothagodam you will be taken to Lohagunj, which is basically around 225 km away from this place and will take 9 hours. By evening, Lohagunj will be reached and you will be allotted guest houses or lodges to stay overnight at Lohagunj.

Day 2: From Lohagunj to Bekaltal

The Brahmatal trek length will be about 6 km and will take approximately 4-5 hours to complete the trek. The trekking altitude will increase to 9,690 ft above the mean sea level. Lunch will be arranged at the mid way of the trekking. During the trek the trekkers can have the amazing view of the Nandaghuti Peak. After reaching Bekaltal, one can view the amazing Bekaltal present just at a distance of 15 minutes walk from the camping site. Here many springs are also found. Overnight stay will be at Bekaltal campsite.

Day 3: Bekaltal to Brahmatal
The trek will be with snow covered lanes with steep pathways. The trekking will be at an altitude of 10,450 ft above the mean sea level. The trek from Bekaltal to Brahmatal will take 6 to 7 hours to complete. The trekkers need to cover around 7km. There will be forest and beautiful mountain peaks of Himalayas. The camping site will be at Brahmatal for staying overnight.

Day 4: Brahmatal to Tilbundi
The trekking length will be 7km and it will take approximately 7-8 hours to complete. The altitude will also increase from 10,450ft to 11,250 ft. The trek will be through forest lands, so the lanes will be steeper which needs to be carefully passed. There will also be some Oak forests and Rhododendron forests. During this trek the trekkers will come across different mountain ranges like Nilgiri, Chaukhamba, Trishul, Mana, Nanda Ghunti and Maitoli, some temples and the famous Shivalik Himalayas. The trekkers after seeing those spots will again come back to their previous campsite i.e. Brahmatal campsite.

Day 5: Brahmatal to Lohajung
This will be a long route, so the team will start trekking a bit earlier just after having breakfast. The altitude will reduce from 11,250 ft. to 7,650 ft. The trekkers will follow the same route and come back again to Lohagunj. Lunch will be done on the mid journey. Finally after reaching Lohajung everyone will settle themselves in tents and will take rest.

Day 6: Lohajung to Kothagodam
This is the final day of the trek when everyone will bid farewell to each other. From Lohajung the trekkers will head back to the Kothagodam and will finally be off for their home destinations.
