How about choosing a homestay for your next holiday? Don’t get confused between home-stays and bed and breakfast accommodation. Certainly, these are the two different words that are poles apart. Homestay’s can be defined as a home of a resident or a local person converted into lodging for the visitors. Whenever we plan a holiday the only unanswered question remains to hunt for accommodation and we start Googling the options for luxury hotels. Let’s change our perception this time and choose homestays. In growing time homestays have gained popularity and have proven themselves a better option to stay in while travelling. Staying at the homes of the residents is an authentic experience that is truly unmatchable.

Here I am sharing with you 8 reasons why to choose homestays over luxury hotels:

1) Home-cooked meals:
A holiday is incomplete without delicious food. Here you will get a chance to taste the home-cooked food. You can indulge yourself in the local eats of a particular destination to know the culture better. Some homestay owners also allow guests to take part in the cooking process which can be a moment to memorize.

2) Know about the local culture: Connecting with local people and gathering interesting information about the place and watching their culture closely is an amazing experience that has to be tried once.

3) Homestays are valued for money: Luxury hotels charge way 2 high and lots of hidden charges are there whereas homestays are a true value for money. At an affordable price, you will get personalised services and will also get a homely feel.

4)Make your trip memorable: Homestays are not packed with pools or restaurants of your choice. Rather they are quite spacious from in and out and the structured architecture can be captured into the camera leaving with you some lifetime travel memories while going back.5) Explore the unexplored places: Some offbeat destinations are not covered in your travel guides and those places are left unexplored. Hunt for such places with the help of the locals for a leisure holiday.

6) Making new friends and learning a local language: How about making new friends while on your trip, especially for solo travellers. it’s also a great way to learn the local language.

7) Support Local Economy: Opting for homestays is also linked with the growth of the local economy by providing them employment. Residents can earn directly or indirectly by promoting homestays.

8) Stories collected for a lifetime: Ofcourse we Indians have a culture of writing diaries and staying at homestays will add some new stories to your travel diaries. Away from the city noise, you will have an enriching experience of knowing another culture while enjoying the local flavours.

We have always preferred luxury stays during travel, no doubt luxury hotels also have their own experience and the concept of homestay is comparatively new to India but have become popular with time. If you are a travel enthusiast and have not yet experienced homestays, make sure for your next holiday you are choosing some offbeat destinations for a cosy vacation with some cool homestays.

  1. Hey! This is kind of off topic but I need some guidance from an established blog. Is it tough to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty fast. I’m thinking about making my own but I’m not sure where to begin. Do you have any ideas or suggestions? Thank you
